How Peppol IDs work in the Netherlands

Dutch companies are primarily identified on Peppol using their KVK number under scheme 0106. This is an 8-digit number assigned by the Dutch Chamber of Commerce.

Many companies are also registered under their Dutch VAT number, using scheme 9944.

For example, the KVK number 69599084 is represented on Peppol as 0106:69599084.

E-invoicing in the Netherlands

Since 1 January 2017, the Dutch central government has required suppliers to send electronic invoices to the government under new contracts.

There is currently no general B2B e-invoicing mandate in the Netherlands. The Netherlands is considering how the European Union’s VAT in the Digital Age rules should be implemented. Peppol is already widely used in the Netherlands for the exchange of electronic invoices.
