France overtakes Belgium to lead Peppol participant count
Published August 2, 2026
France has overtaken Belgium to take first place among countries by number of Peppol participants, according to figures as of 2 August 2026.
France now has 2,206,577 distinct Peppol participant identifiers, compared with 2,110,493 for Belgium. The latest totals put France ahead by 96,084 participants.
France added 58,597 participants on 2 August 2026, contributing to the change at the top of the country ranking. The country code FR now leads the network by participant count, ahead of Belgium's BE.
Ranking reversed within 30 days
The positions were markedly different 30 days earlier. At that point, France had 1,309,366 participants, while Belgium had 2,089,667. France's gap to Belgium was then -780,301.
Since that earlier snapshot, France's participant total has risen to 2,206,577. Belgium's count has also increased, reaching 2,110,493, but France has moved from behind to first place.
Participants are not the same as companies
The metric counts distinct Peppol participant identifiers and should not be interpreted as a count of companies. Belgium in particular registers many organisations under two identifier schemes at once, meaning its participant count overstates its company count relative to France. A ranking based on deduplicated organisations can therefore differ from the participant ranking.
On the stated participant measure, France is the leading country as of 2 August 2026, with Belgium in second place and a gap of 96,084 between them.
