How Peppol IDs work in Sweden

Swedish companies are primarily identified in the Peppol network by their organisation number under scheme 0007. It is a ten-digit number that identifies the company or organisation.

For example, the organisation number 556036-0793 is registered in Peppol as 0007:5560360793. Many participants are also registered with a GLN under scheme 0088.

E-invoicing in Sweden

Sweden was an early adopter of e-invoicing. Since 1 April 2019, suppliers have been required to send electronic invoices when the invoice results from a public procurement procedure covered by the law and initiated on or after that date.

Contracting authorities and entities must be registered in Peppol to receive electronic invoices. There is currently no general e-invoicing mandate for transactions between businesses, but Peppol is also widely used in the private sector.
