How Peppol IDs work in Norway

Norwegian businesses are identified in the Peppol network by their organisation number under scheme 0192. The organisation number consists of nine digits and is assigned upon registration in the Central Coordinating Register for Legal Entities, known in Norwegian as Enhetsregisteret.

For example, organisation number 923 609 016 is registered in Peppol as 0192:923609016.

E-invoicing in Norway

Norway was an early adopter of EHF and Peppol. E-invoicing has long been mandatory for invoices to the public sector, and EHF invoices are exchanged mainly through the Peppol network.

From 1 January 2027, businesses subject to bookkeeping requirements must send e-invoices to other businesses subject to bookkeeping requirements that are registered in ELMA and are therefore able to receive e-invoices.

From 1 January 2030, requirements for digital bookkeeping and for the ability to receive and process e-invoices electronically will also apply. More detailed rules concerning approved invoice formats and possible exemptions will be set out in regulations.
