Slovakia rises to 20th place in Peppol participant count
Published October 16, 2026
Slovakia holds 20th place by Peppol participant count as of 16 October 2026, moving ahead of Spain, which now ranks 21st. Several countries remain above Slovakia in the overall ranking.
Slovakia has 8,144 participants, compared with 6,679 for Spain, giving it a lead of 1,465. The Slovak total includes 694 participants added on the reporting date.
The latest standing reflects a marked shift over recent weeks. A month earlier, Slovakia had 876 participants and Spain had 6,579, leaving Slovakia 5,703 behind. The countries have since swapped places, and Slovakia's lead is widening after the earlier deficit.
The regulatory approaches of the two countries provide context for their different Peppol footprints. Slovakia is introducing mandatory B2B e-invoicing on a decentralised Peppol model, planned for 2027. Spain is introducing mandatory B2B e-invoicing on its own model - the Facturae format and a public platform - not primarily Peppol.
Participants are distinct Peppol participant identifiers, not companies. Spain in particular registers many organisations under two identifier schemes at once, so its participant count overstates its company count relative to Slovakia; measured by deduplicated organisations, the ranking can differ.
