How Peppol IDs work in Belgium
Belgian companies are primarily identified on Peppol using two identifier schemes. The enterprise number (BCE / KBO), associated with scheme 0208, is a 10-digit number assigned by the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises. For example, the number 0417.497.106 is represented on Peppol as 0208:0417497106.
The same company is often also registered under its VAT number, associated with scheme 9925, in the form 9925:BE0417497106.

E-invoicing mandate in Belgium
Since 1 January 2026, structured electronic invoicing has been mandatory for B2B transactions between Belgian VAT-registered businesses, subject to the exceptions provided for by law. Businesses within the scope of the mandate must be able to send and receive structured electronic invoices through the Peppol network. Peppol BIS is the reference format.
